- How you say... tri-fecta of terror? La-La-Land electro-punks No Age are teaming up with Baltimore computer-freak Dan Deacon and psych-rockers Deerhoof for a collaborative summer tour. Instead of the standard, opener-opener-headliner approach to playing shows, the three young powerhouses will be setting up on the same stage and alternating songs.
- The Los Angeles Times ran a ballin' article on the upsurge of vinyl record stores in Los Angeles. Those profiled are Origami Vinyl in Echo Park, Vacation in Los Feliz, and Little Radio in Downtown.
- On Monday afternoon, the Echoplex announced that Silversun Pickups and Eulogies will be playing a benefit concert at LA's favorite underground venue this Thursday, April 30th! Proceeds from the show will go directly to The Pablove Foundation, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The Pablove Foundation was founded for Pablo Castelaz, the five-year-old son of Dangerbird Records co-founder Jeff Castelaz, who was diagnosed with a rare form of children's cancer in May, 2008. Hard tickets for the event are already sold out, however a limited number of tickets might be available at the door the night of the show on a first come, first served basis.
- Fuck my life. Matador Records (who have released records by Belle and Sebastian, Cat Power, Sonic Youth, etc.) has revealed that most of their vinyl masters -- "pretty much everything up to May 2006" -- have been destroyed by their former pressing plant, 33 1/3, who went bankrupt. The shitfest is explained in more detail by The Guardian and Paste. You can just read those articles while I go melt into a puddle of hot tears...
