Danny of LA Font on "Fine Lines":
In Santa Monica, I came across a man in a wheelchair overlooking the ocean from a cliff bluff. He was wearing headphones and singing at the top of his lungs. His eyes were clenched and his hands were straight in the air. I loved the scale of the melody--it sounded like monks chanting in a cathedral. I listened for 10 minutes until all the notes were in my head. Then I walked up and down the beach drinking wine and singing the scale to myself, playing with different rhythms and melodies until I got what is now "Fine Lines." The lyrics fell into place immediately afterward, a cross between the imagery of the man in a wheelchair and leftover feelings from an old breakup. Some songs take months to write; this one was finished before the end of the night.

Seamus of Smokers in Love on "Never Sleep Again":
So we were playing the world famous Viper Room and the sound guy says, “Hey man I'll record your show for 50 bucks.” So we all looked at Mitch and said do you want to do it as he had a) the money, and b) better business acumen than the rest of us. We get the recording home and realize he messed the sound up on the entire first half of the set but we were already fleeced of the money, so this is one of the few songs that actually came out OK.
The song is mostly about my time in my twenties where I cultivated poppies for mass consumption. Mostly mine.

Nick of George Glass on “Side Effects":
This is a brand new song that was recorded live at LaBrie's on March 22 for night four of our Radio Free Silver Lake residency. We recorded a studio version of the song up in Boulder Creek, California in an old post office. The song is about being woken up from a dead sleep in the middle of the night by my girlfriend who comes home totally high on drugs. She was so messed up out of her mind and paranoid, she confessed to all these transgressions while I''m half asleep and all I could remember thinking was, "I know I should really care right now, but I don't give a shit, i have work in the morning and I wanna go back to bed." So she stays up all night and writes this long letter spilling her guts, which she eventually lit on fire and burned before I was awake to read it. The fire alarm went off in our apartment and I couldn't turn it off so we had to rip the alarm off the wall. It was surreal. To this day she hasn't told me what was written in the letter.
