1) In band lineup related news, please "read" the following video announcement by the Happy Hollows regarding the departure of drummer Chris Meanie, and the finding of a replacement for him.
3) The Parson Red Heads (who are arguably no longer a Los Angeles band after relocating to Portland) premiered their video for "Seven Years Ago" on Paste. It's almost as much a short film as a music video (although not quite taking the "short film" conceit as far as has Spike Jonze...) The video seems to be shot around Portland, the guitars are twangy, and beards are a-plenty. I really like the comment that says "If people don't fall in love with the Parsons after seeing this video, then they do not have a heart..." I'm still waiting for the day where I feel that sentimental about a song after a single listen. The PRHs won't be back in LA until October 7! (at the Satellite).
4) Jeremy Messersmith & his band (from Minnesota) are playing at Satellite on July 17th. Here is a live performance in a graveyard of "Toussaint Grey, First in Life and Death" from Messersmith's newest album, The Reluctant Graveyard (which was featured on one of NPR's Top 10 Albums of 2010 lists).
5) The Bangles are playing on the Santa Monica Pier on Thursday. Rather than find out what they look like now, I'm going to opt out and get teary eyed watching "Eternal Flame" again and again.
6) Iceland's Mugison performing "I Want You" (now my third favorite song with this title?) in the bathroom of Reykjavík's Nordic House. I saw this guy put on an incredible show last October at Airwaves. I hope to see him again this year.

7) Oh, and Páll Oskar (Iceland's biggest pop star) just revealed this year's theme song for Þjóðhátíð (the National Festival):
