1) While never a fan of Iraq's Sadaam Hussein, like many others, I was made very uncomfortable by his trial, imprisonment and execution. Geoff Geis (of Pizza!)'s new video for "Mother of All" tells the story of Sadaam Hussein, while visually mashing up Sadaam footage with the Beastie Boys' "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (to Party)." It's worth watching. The last few seconds are NSFW.
3) Moral Vacation is a brand new Los Angeles based supergroup composed of David Ferino, Courtenay Green, and Hud Morgan and "featuring" Lucy Sunday on vocals. The song is called "Chinese Firedrill Dance Party" and features someone licking a Krispy Kreme donut, a Justin Bieber air freshener, and the phrase "A fleet of foxes" rhymed with "Pandora's boxes." C. Green's main project See Green will be playing on Sunday night at Amplyfi in Hollywood.
4) The Eastern Conference Champions premiere this new video for "Bull in the Wild" at www.mxdwn.com. Just like life, it's all shot in one take, and takes place at a bar. Much unlike life, it was directed by James Weir. The ECC will be soon embarking on a European tour in support of the Get Up Kids, but before that will be playing at the Satellite on 9/16 and the Long Beach Lobsterfest on 9/17.
5) Saturday, September 3 will be happening the FYF Fest (I'm still uncomfortable with it no longer being called the "Fuck Yeah Fest", but whateves). There's some great bands on the lineup, so I'm hoping the organization will be better than it was two years ago (when I went last). Here's some videos from some of the bands that I'd be most excited to see:
The Descendents -- "Sour Grapes"
Fool's Gold -- "Surprise Hotel"
Glass Candy -- "Feeling Without Touching"
Girls -- "Lust For Life"
Dead Milkmen -- "Punk Rock Girl"
Avi Buffalo -- "What's In It For?"
Twin Sister -- "All Around And Away We Go"
Death From Above 1979 -- "Black History Month"
6) And finally, Iceland's Motion Boys have released a new video for an old song: "Hold Me Close to Your Heart". Just like many video's of late, it's filmed with the hazy effects of an early 80's new wave, with much of the same sound. CLICK ON THIS I PROMISE YOU'LL LIKE IT (I tested it on a coworker yesterday and his email response was "xlent", which I take as very positive.)
Dearest friends, acquaintances and strangers: make yourself known to RFSL readership by emailing me a link to your new music video. My email address? That's RFSLJed at gmail dot com.
The Fuck Yeah Fest is on Saturday the 3rd not sunday.
