1) L.A.'s Aaron Embry (of Amnion) recorded this very stripped down version of "Your Heart And Mine" on January 1st, 2012 in Ojai, CA. He'll be performing at Townhouse in Venice on January 30 and February 2 at Hotel Cafe.
3) Multi-instrumentalist (but primarily saxophonist) Colin Stetson releases this long video for "Those Who Didn't Run" from the new EP of the same name. According to his website, the EP was "Recorded by Mark Lawson in single takes, no overdubs, loops or edits," but considering the various layers of music, and only Stetson playing, I don't get how this is possible. I might have written off Stetson a long time ago for being too avant-garde for my taste, but his long list of collaborators (Tom Waits, Laurie Anderson, TV On The Radio, Arcade Fire) keeps leading me back to his 2011 record New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges, which in manageable doses is quite good/interesting.

4) Minneapolis's POLICA, one of the many contributors to supergroup GAYNGS has released a new video for "Lay Your Cards Out." She'll be playing 2/21 at the Bootleg Theatre w/ two excellent L.A. bands: Pollyn and One AM Radio (FYI...this is actually a pretty super lineup, so maybe worth buying tickets in advance???)
5) Underage Icelandic folk outfit Pascal Pinon perform "5 Hour Party People", which will apparently appear on their upcoming record. This was recorded in November, in Denmark!
