The FYF Fest announced its 2012 lineup Monday, with Refused, M83 and Beirut headling the two-day festival. The genre mix is a fudge ripple swirl that includes old-line punks and their spawn, buzzy indie rock and spazzy, loopy electronic acts. Highlights of the lineup include Wild Flag, Ceremony, Fucked Up, AA Bondy, Fidlar, Yeasayer, Desaparecidos, Warpaint, Purity Ring, Givers, Cloud Nothings and Kishi Bashi. Sadly, FYF regular No Age is absent from the list and incomprehensibly OFF! is also missing. The full bill is on the poster at the right and the FYF Fest web site.
The festival formerly known as the Fuck Yeah Fest will take place Labor Day Weekend September 1 & 2 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park ("The Cornfields") in Downtown Los Angeles, its fourth year at the park. Goldenvoice (who impressed us favorably last year) presents the event again this year. For the first time, the festival will take place over two days. This year's tickets start at $77, up from $40 ($20 for music and $20 for lines that move) for last year's one-day event and even more than the $20 FYF charged per ticket in 2010, also a one-day festival.
Tickets go on sale Friday (June 22) via Ticketfly. Tickets are also available at Origami Vinyl in Echo Park, Vacation Vinyl in Silver Lake and other record stores in the area. The show is all ages and runs from noon until midnight.
I go back the next time, they’ll want to show me that they still know how to wash their hands.
