1) I've never been to the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Fest, although I've wanted to go for years. Do I try this year? Here are videos for some of my favorite of the bands that are playing:
Races with "Lies" (playing Friday at 8:00 p.m.)
Sara Radle with "Lucy" (playing Saturday at 1:00 p.m.)
The Jail Weddings with "Tough Love" (playing Sunday at 4:00 p.m.)
Great Northern with "Telling Lies" (playing Friday at 7:00 p.m.)
2) On Saturday, the Abandoned Pools (led by Eels bassist Tommy Walter) will be playing at the Roxy. They've also just released a new video for "Sublime Currency", off of their recently released (and identically titled) album (it's been seven years since the last). It appears the video cannot be embedded, so watch it through this link.
3) Late 70s and early 80s icons Devo and Blondie are playing at the Greek tonight. While I am disconcerted by the fact that these shows are being sponsored by KOST 103.5 (the local easy listening station (which I admittedly listen to quite a bit -- I'm just sad that we've gotten to the point where Devo's fanbase are considered a significant sector of its listenerbase), I suppose this may be a good show. For years, I've found their smash single "Mongoloid" very easy to relate to.
Also, check out their new Mitt Romney inspired single: "Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro!"

Thanks for posting those tips, I'm sure they'll come in handy for everyone. And nice job getting the top spot on the high scores!
