3) I'm a few weeks late on this, but I couldn't resist posting again the new video for "Work for the City" by JAN aka Kim Talon, formerly of Eagle and Talon. Much like Eagle and Talon, Kim here sounds much like Sleater-Kinney (one of my favorite bands -- so a good thing). The video features her being creepily fondled by what I can only assume are fellow band members and friends. I wonder what the title refers to? The DMV? Metrolink? JAN's self titled EP will be released on November 13.
4) The Mountain Goat's new song "Cry for Judas" starts with a horn blast that reminds us of how far John Darnielle has come from his early days of tape recording himself in his bedroom. The video is playful despite much blood, a mouse in a maze, a girl cleaning up a bloody nose (more blood), John (possibly) helping a kid fix a bike, and John lip syncing in a pajama looking suit to a child. I think I like this song more than anything I've heard from TMG in a while. The Mountain Goats will be playing at the Troubadour on 12/13 (where I once saw this sort of thing take place).
5) Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros' new video for "Child" was created by a fan...in Poland (!) as submission to a contest. Watch it below.
Any other videos you'd like me to post, next week say? Email me at RFSLJed at gmail dot com, and I'll do my very very best.
