Turning up the volume with this New Year's Eve celebration selection has got to bode well for the upcoming week, if not the month and the year. (Might as well be optimistic as we go over the fiscal cliff) And this week, though rather sparse, offers some wonderful shows scattered randomly here and there, including one of my own.
First Friday's kicks off the 2013 season this week at The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County with a show by the soon-to-be-huge band Lord Huron. If this band's combination of high spirited tropical-pop with a haunted, dark-toned undercurrent doesn't get the old dinosaur bones dancing in their dioramas, nothing will. Wildcat! Wildcat! is another band poised for a bright future and are the opening band for this event.
Then there are good shows on Saturday and Sunday, making next weekend a pretty busy round of activities. Feed Your Head has my monthly show at Lot 1 with Dawn of Sequins on Saturday and Sunday, BuzzbandLA and Moheak Radio present Seven Saturdays and Pageants at The Satellite.
