Another holiday and another uneventful week signal the start of another new year. This will be another limited edition, as I'm still on vacation. Last year marked the final New Year's Eve celebration with The Henry Clay People at The Satellite, which had become a nearly annual tradition and almost legendary way to get from December 31st to January 1st for the local set. Now that the brother/founders have moved on to pursue paths of enlightenment and enrichment, The Henry Clay People are not available (either temporarily or permanently), but The Satellite has found a splendid, psychedelic substitute in The Entrance Band and the trippy Jeffertitti's Nile. This would invite a party equally influenced by other substances than just alcohol.
I'm very intrigued by the show called CLAp HnDs 2014: New Year's Eve over at Lot 1 with entertainment provided by The Burning of Rome, Joseph Gárate, Ryan Fuller and many others. As Lot 1 has become a home away from home for me, this seems like my destination to welcome in 2014.
And please send your kind thoughts and condolences to my compatriot and RFSL editor, Kathryn Pinto, who lost her mother last week. We wish her well in this difficult time.
