Thanksgiving week and the town is fairly quiet. Time to be pensive and reflective? I don't think so. Time to party and be with friends and remind myself how grateful I am to the local music scene and it's very special musicians and artists, so many of whom have become like family to me.
Now that it's nine years since I revived a musical life that fundamentally transformed my whole outlook and rearranged my priorities, I find a definite nostalgia creeping into the whole experience. I think one of the most important things I learned from this is to never close doors completely. Also that what you give comes back to you two-fold. Follow your passion.
Residencies seem to be going on unaffected by the holiday, so Monday holds most of the cards for the week with The Diamond Light, Wartime Recitals and Dorothy offering strong line ups for the final nights of their engagements at The Satellite, The Echo and Bootleg HiFi, respectively. Clockwise is finishing up his month long run at The Satellite on Wednesday. Minus the Bear are flying through town, stopping for a show at The Troubadour on Monday.
Enjoy the holiday!
