Final night for the Monday residencies and this is my turn to catch Avid Dancer at The Echo, especially with Haunted Summer and Light FM on the docket. I have wanted to attend all the nights of Avid Dancer's residency but hope to make up for that this week. And it's a full night with three of our best bands.
Tuesday night I'm out again to go to The Satellite to witness the latest incarnation in the interesting career of Eric D. Johnson who, from Fruit Bats through The Shins, has kept a hold on his unique sound, now appearing billed as EDJ for a show that includes another couple of local powerhouses; Two Sheds and Aaron Espinoza.
Lucinda Williams has a host of shows all over L.A. this week, during her 2nd World Tour Of California, from The Troubadour on Monday and Wednesday, to The Regent Theatre on Saturday. Then she comes back next weekend for two days at McCabe's on March 7 and 8. The Airborne Toxic Event have a new album coming out and celebrate with a free in-store on Wednesday at Amoeba Music.
So much fun to run into the Silversun Pickups as the house band at the Independent Spirit Awards last Saturday when I saw the show on TV this weekend. And they sounded great! Gotta get ready to go to The Oscars, so this week is brief.
