There's a bunch of great shows out there this week. Gonna be very hard to stay home. Then on Saturday the hard-cores head back out to the desert again for Desert Daze. as the spring festivals continue. The emphasis is on the psychedelic at this one with Warpaint, Minus The Bear Vetiver, Mini Mansions and Deap Vally being just the tip of the iceberg at Sunset Ranch in Mecca CA.
Here's a few of the week's highlights. A couple of First Friday events happen on May 2, but my preference would be for the First Friday with Mary & Eli happening at Pehrspace starring Seasons, hot off the release of their stunning new album, Everything Changes. Also Appearing are Derde Verde, PARENTS and, of course, Madame Headdress.
Eclectic Music & Arts Fair is another Saturday festival, which takes place on 6 stages in South Pasadena with top notch bands and artists such as Torches, Anenon, Aaron Embry, Gardens & Villa, Bones Muhroni, Buttertones and Janelane part of the very full schedule. This sounds like a fun festival at a manageable size.
We were keeping tabs on Clockwise, during his recent stint in New York City, via our intrepid traveling friend Rebecca Balin, who in in Manhattan and managed lights for him at his NY gigs last week. On Tuesday he's back here for a show at The Echo with Prayers, The Knitts and Bella Darling.
My May Feed Your Head show presents a return of The Pretty Flowers, to my event at Lot 1 on Saturday night. They're bringing a band with them that I'm very excited to hear The European, who remind me of a combination of Chad VanGaalen and Talking Heads. Also featuring a return engagement for England's Joe Levi, who has just re-planted himself in Los Angeles, and a warm welcome to him as a promising new member of the local music scene.
