Here it is Halloween again. One of Los Angeles' favorite holidays when all the ghouls and freaks let it all hang out. More than normal that is. There are a lot of holiday-themed events this week but my favorite is the All Scene Eye show presenting one of the best line ups of the week with Seasons, Hobart W. Fink, The Wild Divide, The Electric West and Veterans of Future Wars at The Lost Knight.
I also recently discovering that, since I got back into music ten years ago, I have been to 1100 concerts beginning with that fateful night of November 29, 2005 when I wandered into the Avalon to see Super Furry Animals and a whole new world was re-opened to me. Now all I want is to see more and more, And this week affords just that opportunity. This is usually, traditionally, my biggest month and this year I will have seen eleven shows during October, including Culture Collide where I saw 14 bands altogether.
I get another chance to catch The Lonely Wild, since I missed their Record Release Show a couple of weeks ago, on Monday at the Balcony.TV residency at The Satellite. I'll be seeing John Reilly & Friends with Becky Stark and Tom Brosseau finally (I've been trying to see them forever) on Thursday with Andrew Bird joining them at Bootleg Theatre. Saturday (Halloween) I'll spend with Seasons and Hobart W. Fink at The Lost Knight, and I will have reached my October goal.
