1) Everest is one of RFSL's favorite local bands. You heard it from me first, but according to RFSL monstermind Joe Fielder, their new song "Let Go" is going to be "a big hit." He's been right more than once, so listen carefully and watch the video:
2) I saw L.A's Darker My Love only once or twice -- both times years ago -- and was left without a very strong impression. Dirty Laundry Presents' profile of the band at SXSW has somewhat re-encouraged my interest. In both the band, and the idea of investing the money and time necessary for a trip to SXSW:

3) L.A.'s Fool's Gold have a video out for almost a month for "Nadine", directed by Adria Petty. How I missed it before is a mystery. To no great surprise, it is shot at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery:
4) Brooklyn's Bear in Heaven was stuck in transit at a Madrid airport as a result of flight delays following the eruption of Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull. Their video for "Dust Cloud" was shot by placing a camera on the conveyor belt at the airport:

5) I still don't quite understand Transmissions front-man's Christian Biel's "Castle Asshole" project. Surrealism? Mixed genres? But even though I don't quite get what is happening, I can't wait to find out what happens next. Check out episode one of season two:
5) Much of the internet is abuzz with M.I.A.'s new video for "Born Free." It's extremely violent, includes some surprisingly graphic sexual content and features a decent amount of screaming. That being said, it's one of the most powerful music videos I've seen in a while, and if you haven't had the chance to watch it yet, here y'ar (very, very NSFW):

6) If you haven't yet, check out Brad's review of Avi Buffalo's new record. I listened to this record yesterday morning, and couldn't have put it better than he (note also that Pitchfork gave it a surprisingly positive review considering that it came out of Los Angeles). There's slightly more than a handful of new Avi Buffalo videos up on youtube -- the audio isn't the highest quality I've seen, but for devoted fans, enjoy the fresh recordings. Here's "What's it in For?", which so far is my favorite from the album:
Avi Buffalo's record release party is on May 1 at the Troubadour.
7)And finally, a fistfight in Ukraine’s parliament:
Until we meet again, my friends. Email me at RFSLjed at gmail dot com to tell me about your band’s latest video release. Or that you really really liked my last post.
