Radio Free Silver Lake presents a Surprise Bash for Joe Fielder with performances by members of the Monolators, Death to Anders, One Trick Pony and Radars to the Sky on Thursday June 16 at Lot 1 Cafe in Echo Park.
The day Joe Fielder departed for Boston was a sad, sad two-hankie day in Silver Lake. In true Joe style he left us broken hearted, but not empty-handed. The founder of Radio Free Silver Lake and Let’s Independent, he not only continues to write for this site from exile, but before he ever left town, he chose to expand the site rather than tame it back, calling an infamous meeting at the Red Lion to recruit a staff of writers. Later in true Joe optimism he even took a chance on an editor he barely knew to keep the site publishing nearly daily. The Show Low Down, Video Free Silver Lake, interviews, and album reviews are posted every week, seemingly effortlessly.
We sure miss Joe. You can imagine how happy the RFSL staff was to hear that he is coming to Los Angeles next week for a long overdue visit. To sweeten the trip, Joe’s ladylove Ayanna contacted Rob Danson of Death to Anders and asked if he, Brad Roberts and I could put together a live show of some of Joe's favorite bands. We put the word out and Lot 1 and the bands came through for us in spectacular fashion. So please come out next Thursday and celebrate. Convince Joe to stay and buy Ayanna a beer; she made it happen.
The Surprise Bash for Joe Fielder happens Thursday, June 16 at Lot 1 Cafe at 1533 W. Sunset Blvd., Echo Park, starting at 9pm, $5.
