1) You all may or may not know that RFSL's founder and man behind the curtain Joe Fielder is a big shot in the video game industry. And the trailer for Mr. Fielder's new video game was just released on youtube, and includes a track by L.A. rock band Nico Vega. I personally haven't played a video game since Civilization II back in 1999 (unless you count solitaire, freecell and various versions of Arkanoid II), so this quick view into the new world of video games both thrills and excites me. Enjoy the trailer and buy the game!
"Buried in the Murder"
"Banks and Ballrooms"
3) Last in Class is the new project of Jessica Gelt (Wet & Reckless/Movies), Emily Wilder (Wet & Reckless), Charlie Wadhams (Rex Aquarium, Sweet Hearts, The Movies) and Chris Watson (Russian Bones, Juliette and the Licks) and they have been the Monday night residency band at the Satellite this month. Here's a relatively new video for them for the song "Untie Me". The band seems to be getting along swimmingly. Check out RFSL's feature on Last in Class here.
4) It breaks my heart to report that I will not be attending the 2012 Iceland Airwaves Festival (read 2011 and 2010 reports here!) which will be held from 10/31-11/4. Now, were I going, here's a few of the bands I'd be most excited about seeing:
FM Belfast (IS): "I Don't Want to Go to Sleep Either"
Haim (US/LA!): "Forever"
Low Roar (IS): "Give Up"
Pascal Pinon: "Vandamál Ulfsins"
Rökkurró - Sólin mun skína
Tilbury (IS): "Tenderloin"
5) Finally, check out this very pretty video from Iceland's Lay Low for "The Backbone", directed by Halla Kristin Einarsdottir, and shot at Rauðisandur in north-west Iceland during the summer.
Anyone want to cover for me at work, find me a ticket for Airwaves, and buy me a plane ticket? If so, email me at RFSLjed at gmail dot com and we'll work out a deal.
A very different view to the one we take over here.I appreciate the sincere appreciation.Thank you.
