Coachella--the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival--announced their 2013 lineup today. You can head over to their web site and see for yourself if your favorites are on the bill for the three-day festival. We at RFSL take a tempered view of big festivals. You can (and we do) see bands of this caliber every night in Los Angeles in conditions much more conducive to seeing the band, hearing music, and having a good time. Nonetheless, the lure of a big summer festival can be can be magnetic if you go with a good friends (and a fat wallet). Some acts that piqued our interest are Cafe Tacvba, Modest Mouse, Johnny Marr, New Order, OMD, Spiritualized, Kurt Vile, Japandroids, Grizzly Bear,Youth Lagoon, IO Echo, Hanni El Khatib, DIIV, White Arrows and Deap Vally.
The festival takes place at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA with the same lineup playing each of two separate weekends, April 12-14 and April 19-21. Most of the festival passes were sold out in advance last May, but the few available tickets will go on sale Tuesday, January 29, at 10:00 AM (Pacific Time) on the official Coachella website. The official Coachella website also has detailed information about ticketing, location, travel, the lineup and other more general information.
