We're excited to announce that RFSL is sponsoring the stage at The Armory for the Arts at this year's Make Music Pasadena festival, which includes inviting some of our favorite local bands to come out and rock the stage. We're also sponsoring a photo exhibition on the current music scene, which coincides with the festival on Saturday, June 1. We're reaching out to music photographers to submit their work for the show: Here are the deets:
"This
Ain't a Scene 2013," a showcase of photographs depicting the vibrant
indie music community of Los Angeles, features a curated collection of
images from live shows at performances at music festivals and venues
such as The Echo, Pehrspace, The Silverlake Lounge, and The Satellite;
band portraits, album covers, and intimate, behind-the-scenes photos
taken with the subject unaware on the tour van, in the dressing room,
during rehearsal, by photographers who are as much music devotees as
they are shutterbugs.
Sponsored by The Armory Center for the Arts and Radio Free Silver Lake This Ain't a Scene 2013 lends
the spotlight on the local music scene, and on the bands and the
photographers who have immersed themselves for their love of music. In
conjunction with the exhibit there will be related programming
throughout the month of June such as workshops, panels, screenings, and a
special live performance on Saturday, June 1, 2013 for the Make Music Pasadena Festival featuring local performers.
A continuation of a show by the same name that originally ran at 1650 Gallery (past exhibition may be viewed here) in the spring 2012, This Ain't a Scene 2013 will focus on music photography from the past few years. It will run from Saturday, June 1-Sunday, June 30, 2013, and will feature approximately 40 works.
