The party's over and it's time to get back to business. Judging by what I've heard and Facebook postings the big party in Texas was a big success. The local scene comes roaring back to life, post-SXSW, and every night is crowded with shows.
The Monday residencies offer a slew of free shows (I'm taking in the Harper Simon show at The Satellite this week) and Tuesday offers Parade of Lights at Bootleg Bar and Ivan & Alyosha at The Echo, who have a great supporting line up for this sold out show.
Also shows with LoveyDove at El Cid on Wednesday, Torches have a big show at The Echo on Friday, and Haunted Summer continue they Casey's residency. The weekend offers Tommy Santee Klaws, Ruthann Friedman and Fort King. More inside...

DECISION:
I've come to the realization that I'm not getting out to see nearly enough bands I'm not familiar with so starting this Monday night I'll try to see at least two or three of the residency bands each month to try to catch up. Tonight I shall try to get into the show by Harper Simon (at right) over at The Satellite. Because I hadn't done enough homework, I only just found out that this is the son of Paul Simon, and whose work bears a striking resemblance to his over-achieving dad. Saturday I went and picked up a second hand copy of his album, aptly called 1st Album, and found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable CD. Willoughby, who I haven't seen in quite a while, and Henry Wolfe are also on the bill, making it a must-see event. All the other residencies have attractive line ups as well.
